Collector Spotlight: Bobby Davolt

Every Tool Tells a Story

The Oswego Historical Society Museum is honored to showcase the personal collection of longtime Oswego resident Bobby Davolt—a man known for his curiosity, craftsmanship, and deep roots in our community.

What started as a fascination with hammers during his time as a maintenance man has grown into a rich and diverse collection of tools, gadgets, and industrial relics. Bobby’s display includes items passed down through four generations, with some pieces dating back to the late 1800s. Visitors can view antique oil cans, leather cutters, folding rulers, a powerful locomotive-style horn, and more—each item offering a glimpse into the everyday innovation of past eras.

Bobby was born in Oswego and worked at the local ammunition plant for over 30 years. His ingenuity led him to co-develop a machine used to safely disassemble grenades—a testament to his problem-solving spirit and mechanical mind.

This special exhibit invites you to explore a lifetime of collecting, tinkering, and preserving pieces of history.
